‘NOBODY GIVES A DAMN:’ Home Depot co-founder blames ‘socialism’ for lack of motivation to work

The co-founder of Home Depot is pointing the finger at socialism for why Americans no longer have the drive to work.

Bernie Marcus, who along with Arthur Blank made the home improvement big box retailer a North American empire, told the Financial Times , “Nobody gives a damn.”

The 93-year-old billionaire put the blame on many “woke people” and industries — including President Joe Biden, who he calls “the worst president in the history of this country” — the news media, Harvard graduates, MBAs, lawyers and accountants.

“I’m worried about capitalism,” Marcus told the outlet.

“Capitalism is the basis of Home Depot (and) millions of people have earned this success and had success,” he explained. “I’m talking manufacturers, vendors and distributors and people that work for us (who have been) able to enrich themselves by the journey of Home Depot.”

Many in the country, however, don’t share that same viewpoint, he declared.

“Nobody works. ‘Just give it to me. Send me money. I don’t want to work — I’m too lazy, I’m too fat, I’m too stupid,’” he said of the woke attitude many Americans have.

Marcus added that attempts to “woke” him, as he put it, would fail.

“The whole idea that a business is set up for social purposes doesn’t make sense to me,” he told the Financial Times, though he acknowledged that Home Depot “was one of the first companies that was socially conscious,” citing its efforts to help communities rebuild after natural disasters strike.

Marcus is also unapologetic about his support for Republicans, including former President Donald Trump and Florida governor Ron DeSantis – even though his Trump backing incited calls on social media to boycott Home Depot.

“I give money to them because I hope they’re going to do the right thing,” Marcus said, calling Trump’s policies “spot on” and saying he believes DeSantis will “challenge him” for the GOP nomination in 2024.

“And may the better man win.”
